Have you got a hen who is a little down?

Have you got a hen who is a little down?

We have discovered a new product which we are using on some of our hens, especially our ex-battery hens. It's a 'pick-me-up' well worth having around. Hens get noticibly more 'glossy' and eggs increase with amazing product.

You'll see the difference straight away with the colour of their combs and the intensity of the yolk!

Who's the most beautiful girl in the world?

Who's the most beautiful girl in the world?

....... twinkle star is!!!

Twinkle star is my new pet pig! she is soooo gorgeous. I love her! Twinkle star had already reared one lot of piglets before she came to us, so we are going to try and get her pregnant so we can have some more!!!. The only problem we have here is no boy berkshire boar, so.............. we are inseminating her ourselves!! Shouldn't be a problem - looks like she's already got a soft spot for Richard!!!

We have found a lovely place in Ireland who are willing to ship the required 'goods' at a moments notice!

Blackrocks are the best!!!

Blackrocks are the best!!!

Hi.. if you have been to see us here i have probably tried to sell you a Blackrock!! We carry 24 breeds here but the Blackrock is my personal favorite! Take a look at my daughter Emma having fun with one of the 18 week old hens (we have not harmed, glued, or stuck the hen to the bike in anyway!)

We're going QUACKERS!!!

We're going QUACKERS!!!

Its that time of year again when we are swamped with eggs!! As from the 9th March onwards we will be selling day old duckings!!! These are mostly Aylesbury's and a few Runners.  We are so excited here - are girls are doing us proud! These are available to order now and we will let you know when they hatch. Collection should be made within a couple of weeks of hatching if possible. If you want an older duck just give us a call and you can still order but we will continue to grow them here for you.

We also have lots of day old chicks available thanks to fantastic breeding sets who are enjoying the first signs of spring.

If you are planning to order some of our day olds and are unsure how to rear the youngsters you can give us a call

Chicken Out Competition!!!

Chicken Out Competition!!!

We are running a competition with the fylde area!! Any school can enter. All we want is a drawing/painting of a hen/poultry off the pupils and a sentence why they thnk their school should have hens - the winners will recieve 12 ex-batts plus all feeders/drinkers, feed, grit and healthcare products. All they need is a buliding to house these precious feathered friends in.

Good luck everyone, we'll give a helping hand in the welfare of the hens - who will reward their new owners with 300 eggs a year each!!!

Got an eglu?

We are now one of omlets recommended breeders. This is great to us, mainly because most eglus end up within a family/domestic enviroment - which means our hens will too!!! Our fantastic range of hens here ALL want a loving family to supply their daily eggs for!!

Gerald - refusing to go 'straight'

Gerald - refusing to go 'straight'

For those of who you who have been here and met Gerald out lovely peacock it will come as no surprise to you that we have given up on Gerald 'going straight' and have purchased two more pairs of peacocks for next years breeding programme. We believe Gerald is the most attractive thing on the farm, but Gerald disagrees and thinks the black silkie cockerals are rather pretty, and has taken a fancy to them. Obviously Gerald is our pet and will continue prancing around happy chicks farm for the next 15 years! (just not part of any breeding programme!) (Sarah Holden 11/11/08)

New Indian Blue Peacocks being 'homed' in our vacant barn, we are hoping they will be out within a month. They have lots of windows to look out over the farm so when they are released will know us and the area around them.

Oh my God!!! these aren't piglets!!!

Oh my God!!! these aren't piglets!!!

After many months on deciding to start breeding our favorite type of piglets - Gloucester Old Spots (which we have reared before). We make an impulsive decision to wait till after Christmas for the 'Old Spots' and find some Wild Boars! These arrived this weekend (9 weeks old) and are to be hand reared here for the next 18 months until they are mature enough to breed from. Wild Boars are extremely rare in this country and we hope to organise a structure breeding programme to have a few more around! (Sarah Holden 17/11/08)

They have balls to play with at the moment and will hopefully out in a couple of weeks when they can cope with the cold .... and we have reinforced the fencing!
